Live Triclosan-free!

The Co-op is doing its part to help rid the world of triclosan! We’re offering a 10% discount on triclosan-free products to anyone who trades in a product containing triclosan.

Triclosan is an antibacterial chemical used in soaps and other personal hygeine products. Unfortunately, is also an endocrine disruptor which has been linked to abnormalities in a wide variety of animals. Three out of five women now show traces of triclosan in their bodies, and triclosan has been found to transmit through breast milk.

Amazingly, it has also been proven that triclosan is no more effective than ordinary soap and water in killing the vast majority of bacteria. Even hospitals have stopped using triclosan in their own facilities.

All products containing triclosan must now list it as an ingredient. Do yourself a favor: Check the labels on your personal care products, and if you see triclosan listed, bring it into the Co-op for a triclosan-free upgrade!
