As a member of the George Street Co Op, you will receive your 2013 referendum in the mail. There are EIGHT questions. Question 1 deals with membership terms, and the remaining seven are ballot votes for each of the seats on the Board of Directors.

We have some gluten-free treats from the same vegan pastry shop that supplies our fresh-baked muffins. Come sample gluten-free brownies with walnuts, gluten-free key lime raspberry mini-cheesecakes (with a chopped walnut crumb topping) and gluten-free chocolate mini-cheesecakes (with walnuts). The "cheese" is non-dairy. These treats are all vegan.
NOTE: These gluten-free items were a special purchase and are available this week only, while they last.

The Co-op is now carrying locally made, organic, vegan pastries! Revel in tasty delights like cranberry orange crumble, baby apple pie, banana chocolate chip loaf, or blueberry lemon loaf. These fresh-baked treats are completely free of dairy, eggs, cholesterol, trans-fats, hydrogenated oils, or high fructose corn syrup, but the flavor is so good you’ll never think you’re missing out! Check them out in the elegant little mini-display to the right of the cash register. Be aware, these sell out quickly every week!

The Co-op is doing its part to help rid the world of triclosan! We're offering a 10% discount on triclosan-free products to anyone who trades in a product containing triclosan.
Triclosan is an antibacterial chemical used in soaps and other personal hygeine products. Unfortunately, is also an endocrine disruptor which has been linked to abnormalities in a wide variety of animals. Three out of five women now show traces of triclosan in their bodies, and triclosan has been found to transmit through breast milk.

The large-size version is bound with a spiral wire binding and is twice the size of the "classic" pocket organizer (5.5 inches X 8.5 inches) with twice as much space to write all the events in your life. It is 160 pages. It has similar contents to the classic: radical dates for every day of the year, space to write your phone numbers, a contact list of radical groups around the globe, menstrual calendar, info on police repression, extra note pages, plus much more. You get a little bonus stuff in the spiral version.

For the warmer season, we're now cooking up vegetarian dogs every single day in the store. They're just to the left of the soup and spinach pies, and they're hot and ready to eat. Stop in and try them out.

Our new website is now online! Many of the features are nearly or exactly the same as before, but the underlying architecture is much more solid and allows us to post updates much faster. Have a look around, and if you run into any problems please let us know.
