The George Street Co-op is a non-profit natural foods store owned and run by its members. We sell vegetarian foods with the greatest nutritional value possible, and only minimal processing or additives. Everyone is welcome to shop at the Co-op and choose from our excellent selection of fresh organic produce, bulk foods, vitamins & herbs, body care and earth-friendly products, gifts, and more.

Member orientation

Saturday, September 11 at 4:00pm
Co-op orientations begin upstairs in the Namaste Cafe and include a complete tour of the store area. Come meet other Co-op members, learn the ropes, and embark on a rewarding volunteer adventure! All attendees get 2 hours towards their Co-op work credit.

Board of Directors meeting

Monday, September 13 at 7:30pm
The Co-op's Board of Directors meets at 7:30pm in the Co-op's upstairs meeting room, the second Monday of each month. All Co-op members are encouraged to attend Board of Directors meetings, whether you prefer to observe discussion or to (respectfully) take part.

Membership Committee meeting

Monday, September 20 at 8:00pm
The Membership Committee meets at 8:00pm in the Co-op upstairs, the third Monday of each month. Co-op members are welcome to attend and suggest ways for the Co-op to better serve and represent the values of its members.

International Day of Peace

Tuesday, September 21
The United Nations' International Day of Peace, marked every year on September 21, is a global holiday when individuals, communities, nations and governments highlight efforts to end conflict and promote peace. Originally established by U.N. resolution in 1982, "Peace Day" has grown to include millions of people around the world. Seedlings are here!

Spring has come, and it’s a great time to order seedlings for your favorite plants. Just print out one of our order forms, fill it out, and bring it in to any of our cashiers. We’ll call you when your order comes in.

New Saturday hours

After two months trying out expanded weekend store hours, we’ve decided to keep those new hours just on Sundays. On Saturdays, we’ll still be staying open until 7pm, but we’ll now be opening at 10am — the same as the rest of the week.

New website

Our new website is now online! Many of the features are nearly or exactly the same as before, but the underlying architecture is much more solid and allows us to post updates much faster. Have a look around, and if you run into any problems please let us know.

We’ll order on your behalf, and your items will arrive within 3 days. What’s more, we’ll call you when they arrive, and we’ll set them aside until you can co
