Post by ellenrr »

Monday, November 5, 2012, 7:00pm until 8:30pm

Ruthie's Bagel Dish
70 Raritan Ave, Highland Park (between Cedar Ave and First)

Global warming is an issue that affects us all, no matter what our identity, our causes, our beliefs, our dreams, our culture, our community. No matter how strong we build our own local communities, global warming will impact us if we don't all take steps to make a difference.

Join us for a presentation and discussion led by envinronmental activist and community member Sid Madison about the consequences of global warming and steps you can take to make an impact on this issue that affects us all.

Meetings are free and open to the public. Refreshments available for purchase from Ruthie's Bagel Dish. Please support the local business that is supporting Raíces and our Eco-Culture Community.

VISIT www.raicesculturalcenter.org for more info.

SPECIAL RAFFLE AT THIS EVENT! The presenter will be raffling off one FREE ticket to Bill McKibben's "Do the Math" campaign tour's November 16th NYC event to one participant of the meeting. "Do The Math" is a galvanizing new campaign led by environmental author and activist Bill McKibben and cultural critic Naomi Klein. Based on McKibben's widely read Rolling Stone article "Global Warming's Terrifying New Math", the tour aims to catalyze a global movement to address the climate crisis and challenge the power of the fossil-fuel industry head-on. Traveling the U.S this fall, 350.org founder McKibben brings together a revolving cast of speakers, activists, and musicians along with some of the world's leading thinkers, visionaries, and change-makers in an interdisciplinary program designed to transform our economic landscape and inspire people to take action commensurate with the scale of the climate crisis.

Please help spread the word so our dialogue can grow!

One of a series of Raices' monthly ecocultural discussions.
