This community cafe is sponsored by Elijah's Promise and Who Is My Neighbor, Inc.
The multi-cultural menu features local, seasonal, healthy, fairly-traded fare including soups, salad, sandwiches and more.
Customers choose their portion sizes, pay a fair price, may exchange volunteer time for their meal, or partake of the complimentary item of the day.
Located at the Reformed Church of Highland Park, 19 So. 2nd Ave [right off Raritan Ave] in the Quilt Room - first floor. Enter from the rear parking lot.
Open Mon-Fri, 11 am - 3 pm
Many of you know Elijah's Promise, which feeds the homeless. It also has a much-acclaimed culinary school, which is where the chefs are from.
The menu is not described as vegetarian, but I've been there 3 times and haven't seen any meat or fish.
Besides the good food at a reasonable price, it is a great place to meet friends, and make new ones.
And at the end the chef comes out and asks you how you like the meal!
This cafe is part of a nationwide movement to encourage local farmers, sustainability, fair trade, and making healthy food available to all.

I hope you will patronize it and spread the word.
