Buddhist Peace Walkers are coming to town!

Post by ellenr »

"The walk seeks to focus public attention on the need for the abolition of nuclear weapons, renunciation of war, and the conversion of our economy from war to peace, believing the source of our collective security is not our weapons, but is the way we think and act together. According to the group's brochure "world security comes from peace, not war; sustainability, not exploitation; generosity, not greed; respect and trust, not fear." Along its fifty five trek the walkers will reflect together with each community, on the legacies and impact of the past, raise the issues of the day, especially economic conversion to peace, and share ways of making real the energy of hope and change that has been created by the arrival of a change in American leadership."

They will be reaching our area on Friday March 13.
I will post the details of their route when I know them.

Everyone is invited to join them for their walk into Highland Park, where they will be housed, and there will be a pot-luck for them.

regards,
ellen
