Re: Help us with a banner!

I like Rose's "Your life. Your food. Your Co-op." for several reasons but the main one is that it includes the idea of 'ownership' which is important to a co-op model. Many stores are now working towards fostering this kind of brand/store loyalty by throwing 'my' in front of the store name...

remember, cheese and other dairy products have similar addictive qualities. Casein creates an opiate like effect on people, which is helpful when nursing babies to help soothe them, but can cause addictive and unhealthy cravings in adults.

If anything, hanging a banner on the store's wall facing toward livingston could be effective since it gets a good amount of traffic.

I agree. This book was fantastic. I know I am buying copies to give to people this holiday season.

The part about chicken "broth" was disgusting but eye opening.

Hey Ellen! In outreach we tried in a couple different ways to have these veggie classes but the connections fell through or the person willing to run it got sick. We are currently looking into having speakers come in and give presentations about various topics and I am contacting several ones to giv...

B12 is in mushrooms and not only meat products

There has long been speculation about whether or not mushrooms provide vitamin B12, a vitamin normally associated with animal foods. In 1987, the Australian Government Analytical Laboratories found appreciable amounts of B12 in mushrooms. Based on this analysis, the mushroom industry then included B...

how timely! I just went to a talk tonight for NY Climate week where they talked about how eating organic and local does little as compared to eating a vegan diet. "The authors suggest that eating less red meat and/or dairy products may be a more effective way for concerned citizens to lower the...

Charity Walks

Hello! I'll be doing two different charity walks in October. If you would like to donate to either, I would be very thankful and it would mean a lot to me. One is for the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (blood cancer research) http://pages.lightthenight.org/nyc/Manhattn09/DGeist The other is for...

actually, it has been found that a vegan who drives a hummer is better for the environment than an omnivore who drives a hybrid.

Co-op Member yardsale August 8th! (BEFORE SUMMER FEST)

Outreach is going to be hosting a co-op yardsale (a-hem, parking lot sale?) on Saturday August 8th from 10-2 (before Summerfest). There is no fee to sell anything at this yard sale. We will be working out of 1/2 of the Elks parking lot as well as the parking lot next to the Trans County building. **...

Morris does bring up some good points. I would hope that co-op members would be respectful, but I guess one should be wary of old, smelly clothes and garbage. I think we could do something like 25% (or another percentage) of the profits go towards the co-op. I don't mind footing the $5 to get the pe...

I've been thinking more about how we could do this. We could get sticky tags and when people bring stuff they write their name on it and the price. That way we can have one "cash register" area, and when people buy stuff, the cashier would write down the name and the amount. At the end of ...

Co-Op Yard Sale?

Hey everyone! As I did some spring cleaning I started to clear out a lot of things I no longer need, books I've read, movies I no longer want, and clothes that I can get rid of. I realized "A-HA, a perfect time to start getting together stuff for a yardsale!" Problem is, living in an apart...

well, if you are currently getting above 5%, you keep your discount, we wouldn't take something like that away from you. We can't add an extra 5% to what you already get though. It was set up as a way to encourage students to shop at the co-op, use up RU express before the semester ends if they have...
